Healthcare equipment supplier Baywater acquired by French group

Equipment supplier Baywater Healthcare, which sells its products to care organisations and healthcare services, has been taken over by French company The Bastide Group.

The deal comes four years after a management buyout of the business from Air Products PLC with investment backing from Duke Street.

The Bastide Group operates across Europe providing a healthcare services in respiratory care, homecare, infusion and nutrition services. The company serves more than 300,000 patients and has around 1,800 employees.

Founded in 1977 by current chairman Guy Bastide, the business was floated in 1997, with the majority of the company remaining under the family’s ownership.

The Bastide Group says it is committed to retaining the identity and culture of Baywater Healthcare, including its management team and the employees.

Commenting on the acquisition Bastide Group’s CEO Vincent Bastide said the group wants to help Baywater grow and improve further. He said: “Together we will work to make our group one of the best home healthcare providers in Europe.”

Meanwhile, Baywater Healthcare’s CEO Adam Sullivan commented: “My team are all very enthusiastic about our new relationship with The Bastide Group. Their track record of growth and diversification is very much aligned to our goals. Importantly The Bastide Group have similar values to ourselves, focusing on the patient and their family.

“I am confident that we will be a significant contributor to the group whilst retaining our own identity with an emphasis on delivering exceptional service across the UK.”

The existing management team will remain with the company and the business will continue to trade under the Baywater Healthcare brand.
