Products marked ‘made in UK’ are still ranked highly by consumers but things made in Germany and Switzerland are more trusted, according to new research.
In a recent global survey carried out by Statista, the UK was the third highest ranked individual country for its ‘made in UK’ label.
In particular, consumers felt the UK produced some of the best-quality furniture.
The ‘Made in Country’ index ranks countries according to how positively a ‘made in…’ label is perceived respectively.
Over 43,000 people were interviewed across 53 different countries. They were asked to consider values such as quality, security standards, value for money, uniqueness, design, advanced technology, authenticity and sustainability.
The UK beat the likes of Italy (7th) and France (9th) and China came in at the bottom at 49th.
The survey as commissioned by Make it British, which said “a Made in UK label is revered all over the world for its quality and provenance”.
The US, Scandinavia, Europe and the Far East are hotbeds for mobility manufacturers and exporters.
Most equipment sold on the UK market is made abroad and imported, however there is a community of brands manufacturing at home.
