Leading manufacturer of accessible bathroom, kitchen and mobility support, AKW, has featured in a programme produced by ITN Production and Care England.
Caring Communities, which is introduced by television journalist and Alzheimer’s Society ambassador Angela Rippon OBE, features industry interviews and news-style reports along with sponsored editorial profiles, exploring the complex role of care and the initiatives happening in the sector.
Angela (pictured) said: “With an aging population and increasing strains on our health, social and care services, encouraging and enabling independent living is really more important than ever. AKW is dedicated to improving people’s lives through their bespoke solutions, which are tailored to individuals living with health issues such as dementia and arthritis.”
The programme highlights AKW’s focus on residents, the carer and equipment installer.
Paul Massey, Group CEO of AKW, said: “Our philosophy is about retaining people’s independence in the home: supporting them with considered solutions that aid accessibility, inclusivity, dignity and mobility.
“Our approach is to understand exactly what the requirements are of the end-user and we work with occupational therapists and focus groups up and down the country to do this.”
AKW’s latest innovations include iCare –a digitally enhanced, BEAB Care certified electric shower that can be operated remotely via remote control or smartphone app, allowing users to maintain their privacy.
AKW’s investment in operating its own dedicated product delivery fleet is also featured.
“Operating our own fleet gives us total control over our service delivery. Product damage is now extremely rare and on-time statistics for our 100,000 deliveries a year stands at 99.8%,” said Bruce Lockton, group operations director.
