Ableworld ramps up dementia-training and products

Ableworld has worked on a number of initiatives in the last few days as part of Dementia Action Week in support of the Alzheimer’s Society and to increase awareness of dementia-friendly products among its customers.

The company advertised its dementia-friendly products in newspapers and on its social media platforms is has been sharing stories and videos from the Alzheimer’s Society to raise awareness of dementia.

Its website also published a blog post highlighting its support of the Dementia Friends initiative and online Dementia friendly products.

As part of its effort to make all of its staff dementia-friendly, Ableworld carried out more information sessions for its employees.

The retailer already has a number of employees who have become Dementia Champions which enables them to hold the information sessions.

A number of other mobility dealers have been making the most of Dementia Action Week, with Snowdrop Independent Living in Penarth, near Cardiff, joining a campaign led by a local Dementia Friendly Steering Group and newspaper.

Manager Lynne Jakeway told the Penarth Times: “The team at Snowdrop are excited about helping to make Penarth Dementia Friendly.

“We want to give our customers the best service in a friendly environment and see becoming dementia-friendly as something that’s really relevant and of benefit to our clients and their families.”
